Need urgent medical care but not a trip to the hospital?
If you have a non-life-threatening injury or illness needing urgent medical attention that can’t wait for an appointment with a GP, but doesn’t need a trip to the hospital, that’s a case for us at the South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.
Located within Cornwall Street Medical Centre, we provide bulk-billed walk-in treatment and care for those experiencing urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.
We deliver care in a GP setting, so you don’t have to wait in a hospital emergency department.
You don’t need to make an appointment, simply walk in and check in at reception.
Things that may need urgent medical care include minor fractures, sprains and pain, minor infections, mild burns, respiratory illness, sexually transmitted infections, severe stomach pains, or urinary tract infections. Check out some more examples below:
Surge protocol disclaimer
The South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has a ‘surge protocol’ like many others in Australia and New Zealand. If the number of patient presentations overwhelms the 1 doctor – 1 nurse – 1 receptionist model which can be unsafe, or, if there are more presentations able to be seen before closing, we will go into ‘surge protocol’. Patients will then be triaged by the nurse and if safe, referred to other medical services (e.g. emergency department) or asked to return for consultation at a later time, or even the next day.
Appointments
- Walk-in only
All patients are clinically triaged on arrival and seen in order of clinical priority.
As we are a bulk-billing clinic, please bring your Medicare card with you.
